At ten minutes past midnight on this night in 1940, German bombers dropped high explosives on Belgrave Road, Aldersbrook, injuring one person and leaving a large crater. A few minutes later an oil bomb was dropped on nearby Bushwood Close in Leytonstone, starting a fire which was extinguished with no injuries.
